1. Death is life

Join a group of climate change metaphors on a journey through the end of the world. Death is temporary, dreams are eternal, and it is best to play every day like it's your last -- it very well could be. It seems you've entered the discography of...

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
  2. Beginner

You start knowing a player who might be resurrected, or that none are in the game.

“Even if you lose a few chips, it's cheaper than the bar”

The Beginner knows a player who might resurrect, but not why.

If you learn a player who says they won't resurrect, you may be drunk due to the Orange Baby, you may be the Morpho, you may have discovered someone's bluff, or you may be in a Balrog/Set game (but your player isn't the Demon).

    Townsfolk

  3. Predator X

Each night, choose a player and learn their alignment. You might die at any time.

“Your death comes so slow / attack from below”

Predator X is fearsome but goes extinct quickly.

Kill the Predator after they choose someone, but before they receive information!!! This indicates that you don't want them to know that player's alignment for one reason or another, creating an interesting situation.

    Townsfolk

  4. Chang'e

Each night, choose a player. Learn two characters. Exactly one of them neighbors your choice.

“Chang'e / the dreamer of dreams”

Chang'e can see the dreams of someone's neighbors, but with some obfuscation.

    Townsfolk

  5. Gilgamesh

Each night, choose a character of a unique character type until you can't. Learn if they are in play. [+1 Outsider]

“He can't protect the wolf-pack from the sun-god Shamash combat”

Gilgamesh remembers knowledge gained from the traveling the world.

    Townsfolk

  6. Theia

On your second night, choose a player. They can only be dead if you are too.

“The silver cord / a glowing thread / binds us to the higher divine”

Theia binds another player's life force to them.

    How to Run

They cannot die while you are alive. If you resurrect, so do they.

    Townsfolk

  7. Mr. Beat

Each night*, choose a unique player (not yourself) until you can't: they do not wake tonight.

    “I only missed a beat”

Mr. Beat causes its companions to miss a beat.

    Townsfolk

  8. Organ Farmer

Each night*, choose a player. If they die (or died) tonight, learn whether a character of your choice is in play.

“Bring in the carcass / where'd you get the body”

The Farmer gains useful information from organ donors.

    Townsfolk

  9. Lord of Lightning

Each day, you may publicly choose a player. Tonight, they die.

“Lord of Lightning shifts his gaze / points his strong finger our way”

The Lord wants only to kill the demon -- anyone that gets in his way is collateral damage.

    Townsfolk

  10. The Dripping Tap

Each night*, if you've been dead for more than a day, resurrect yourself the following morning.

“Drip, drip, on the tap don't slip”

The tap can only stop dripping for a little while.

    How to Run

Basically, they don't revive they night they die, but the night after that. They must be dead for more than 24 hours for the ability to activate.

    Townsfolk

  11. Gila Monster

Each night, pick two players. They are safe from minion and outsider abilities until dusk.

“I'm the Gila, blood spiller, witch killer (Gila!, Gila!)”

The Monster protects its choices from witchcraft.

    How to Run

A Morpho targeted by this ability remains the Morpho, so they would not be protected.

    Townsfolk

  12. Rattlesnake

Each time you are chosen with an ability, all players learn this.

“Whips his tail / sends you writhing”

The Snake is very loud whenever anyone threatens it.

    Townsfolk

  13. Set

If you are killed by the demon, the next good player to be executed will be resurrected immediately after.

    “Slay the mighty Set”

Set protects someone directly after its death.

    Townsfolk

  14. Steel Sheet Flyer

You can only die during the night if you nominated the previous day.

“My lonely wings don't make it right / wrapped in a steel sheet and ready to fly”

The Flyer may leave at any time, meaning they can't nominate or die.

    Townsfolk

  15. Eyes Like the Sky

Each night*, choose a player (not yourself). If Townsfolk, they are drunk. If you are dead, the Demon chooses a player instead.

“The bad white men call him the devil -- The Yavapai call him 'Eyes Like the Sky'”

Miguel O'Brien shoots someone each night, but the Demon gains his power if he dies.

    Outsider

  16. Nonagon

You always register as alive, unless executed. Evil players learn if they kill you.

    “Nonagon infinity opens the door!”

The Nonagon is ALWAYS ALIVE -- as far as anyone can tell.

    How to Run

If you register as alive but actually aren't, very few things change. You register as dead to all character abilities and to storyteller announcements at the start of a day, but notably still cannot nominate and have a single ghost vote. However, the Storyteller must act as if you still have voting and nomination power -- it's just anyone you nominate while dead won't be executed that day and your vote doesn't really count.

    Outsider

  17. Orange Baby

One player is drunk, even if you die. If you guess (once) who it is, choose a player. If your guess was correct, the drunkenness switches to your choice. This ability can only drunk the demon for one night.

“Suck the life from what you love / I learnt that from the orange one”

The Orange One must be somebody's responsibility.

    Outsider

  18. Superbug

When you die, one of your townsfolk neighbors becomes a Superbug but does not learn it.

“Shoulda used phages, instead you took ages”

The Superbug infects its neighbors, who may pass on the contagion further.

    Outsider

  19. Altered Beast

Each night, choose a player. If this is your third time choosing that player, they become an evil Altered Beast and you die.

“Half made of man / half of bear”

The Beast makes other players altered too.

    Minion

  20. Interior Person

Twice per game, at night*, choose a player. They die. When you die, all players you killed this way are regurgitated during the night.

“Punch through the drywall inside my skull”

The Person kills a player from within, but needs to continually keep them dead.

    Minion

  21. People-Vulture

Each night, you may choose a player. If you do, they do not wake tonight. If you don’t, see the grimoire. [ -Superbug ]

“People-vultures / God approaches / Final hearing / what else have I got left to spew down?”

The People-Vulture can force dreams and knows all.

    Minion

  22. Necromancer

Non-demon neighbors of dead players are poisoned.

“Eager to assimilate / and I choose you to walk on your pleura”

The Necromancer sends poison out from corpses.

    How to Run

This ability would jump the Demon, not just not poison them.

If either of their neighbors are dead, then they're poisoned so nobody else is. Yikes!

    Minion

  23. Han-Tyumi

Each night*, choose two players. The first dies. If a player chooses you with their ability tonight, the second dies.

“I am bereft of two human things / two things that a cyborg can never do”

The Confused Cyborg becomes more powerful when it experiences human interaction.

    Demon

  24. Dragon

Each night*, choose a pair of players. The first dies. If nobody chose you with their ability tonight, the second dies just before dawn.

“The eye dilates / the air gyrates / a gate in the sky / a portal to die”

The rampaging Dragon is slowed by outside forces.

    How to Run

Note the "pair" keyword created by the Chef -- a "pair" of players must neighbor each other.

    Demon

  25. Big Fig Wasp

Each night*, choose a player. They die. Dead minions might be regurgitated. [+1 Outsider]

“Does your god know / insects grow in my pome?”

The Wasp infests every resurrection with doubt.

    Demon

  26. Balrog

Each night*, choose a player. They die. The 1st dead player this targets becomes an evil alive Balrog & you die instead. They learn a not-in-play character.

“Feel a tingle rolling up your left arm when you think of evil”

    The Balrog reanimates corpses.

    Demon

  27. Motor Spirit

On your 1st night, you gain a Townsfolk ability (if good) or a Minion ability (if evil).

“Engine Gaia, piston wheeze; The messiah on their knees”

The Spirit fuels whichever team they play for with basically just another member.
